In a Blink: We're going to discontinue offering support for the Blinkist app on Android devices running Android 7, 8 & 9. This means that users with the Android versions 7, 8 & 9 on their Android device won't be able to update to Blinkist app versions higher than 10.5.3.

Why?

With new devices coming out each year, sometimes it can be hard to keep up with the speed at which technology advances. In order to provide our Android users with the best Blinkist app experience, we've decided to stop supporting Android 7, 8 & 9.

We'll no longer be able to fix any issues that are reported on Android devices running these versions.

Anything you need to do?

We advise our Android users running 7, 8 & 9 to upgrade to a higher Android version, ideally the latest version of the operating system - Android 15. By doing this you'll gain access to all the latest updates and features - giving you the best experience of the Blinkist app!

What's the new minimum supported Android OS?

The minimum requirement for Android devices supported by the Blinkist app is Android 10.

What if your device doesn't support this?

There won't be an immediate effect for you on versions 7, 8 & 9, however, we recommend upgrading to a newer version of the Android operating system.

If your device doesn't support any of the new Android versions, you should know that:

  • New features will not be supported on devices running version 7, 8 & 9.

  • Existing Blinkist users on versions 7, 8 or 9 will be able to continue using the Blinkist app version 10.5.3, even after October 2024. However, we won't be able to fix any bugs on that version.

  • As of October 2024, devices with Android 7, 8 and 9 can only download 10.5.3 from the Play Store.
