We discontinue offering support for the Blinkist app on Android devices running Android KitKat from December, 10th 2018.
With new devices coming out each year, sometimes it can be hard to keep up with the speed at which technology advances. In order to provide our Android users with the best Blinkist app experience, we've decided to stop supporting KitKat.
We'll no longer be able to fix any issues that are reported on Android devices running KitKat.
Anything you need to do?
We advise our Android users running KitKat to upgrade to a higher Android version, ideally the latest version of the operating system - Pie 9.0. By doing this you'll gain access to all the latest updates and features - giving you the best experience of the Blinkist app!
What's the new minimum supported Android OS?
The minimum requirement for Android devices supported by the Blinkist app is Lollipop OS version 5.0 🍭
What if your device doesn't support Lollipop?
There won't be an immediate effect for you on the KitKat versions, however we recommend upgrading to a newer version of the Android operating system.
If your device doesn't support any of the new Android versions, you should know that:
- New features will not be supported on devices running KitKat
- You can still use or download Blinkist app version 6.1.5 - however, we will eventually drop support for it
- Existing Blinkist users on KitKat will be able to continue using the Blinkist app version 6.1.5, even after December 10, 2018
In a blink: Users with the KitKat version on their Android device won't be able to update to Blinkist app versions higher than 6.1.5
